Give Me the Child by Mel McGrath

April 12, 2018 By Kim Kingston

Apparently Aristotle said “Give me a child until he is 7 and I will show you the man.” Well if that play outs it may be bad news for eleven year old Ruby, who arrives in the middle of the night into Cat Lupo’s family. Apparently Ruby is the genetic offspring of Cat’s husband, though Cat was previously unaware of her existence. Cat is remarkably welcoming to Ruby, as she has long wanted another child. But, as it turns out, she maybe doesn’t want this particular child. Cat’s husband is arrogantly dismissive of her instincts telling her something is not quite right about Ruby, but Cat is frantic to protect her daughter. And it all turns very nasty. A worthwhile read  but not quite unputdownable.
