“So I Lyfted to Home Depot, where I bought some random stuff, rope and duct tape, plastic bags, cable ties, and plastic gloves. The girl at the register winked and said she’s also a big fan of Fifty Shades and this is what has become of our society. Fucking and killing are the same damn thing.”
Weird to spend time with Joe Goldberg, a multiple killer and the protagonist of Hidden Bodies, and find yourself agreeing with many of the things he says. The only thing between him and someone you’d really like to sit down and have a drink with is several bodies. But then he only kills bad people. Or at least people who have done him wrong. Or people who’ve offended his moral sensibilities, or been a threat to him somehow. Or disappointed him. His definition of bad is pretty broad. Anyway, he’s sick but he’s such good company. And the frequent literary references will steer you towards some excellent books. Hidden Bodies is the sequel to You, but I read this one first and later realised I liked this one better. Disturbing and brilliant.
