Tattletale by Sarah J Naughton

March 21, 2018 By Kim Kingston

After a difficult childhood, Mags has reinvented herself as a ballsy Las Vegas lawyer. The death of her brother Abe draws her back home into a world of poverty, ugliness and inclement weather in the UK. Abe is comatose after falling over a fourth floor bannister. His fiancé Jody insists he must have jumped but did he, and is she really his fiancé? Mags sticks around a while to find out, eventually making a shall we say unusual decision to punish the SPOILER ALERT man who killed her brother. The rights and wrongs of her decision are worthy of an enthusiastic book club debate, so read it with friends who love a good thriller. My only quibbles with it are that Mags is a bit of ballsy-chick cliché and really, it beggars belief that she would stay so long in her brother’s dumpy apartment when she could well afford somewhere with nice sheets.
