The Breakdown by BA Paris

March 28, 2018 By Kim Kingston

A competently written thriller with a few nice twists and turns. The protagonist, Cass, fails to assist a woman whose car has stopped on a remote road in the middle of a storm. Later Cass learns the woman in the car was brutally murdered shortly after she saw her. She feels bad but doesn’t go to the police because she had promised her husband she wouldn’t drive home via the remote road. Difficult to appreciate or sympathise with a heroine who is so morally feeble. If you can get past that, the ending packs a fairly satisfying punch.
