The Missing Girl by Jenny Quintana

February 13, 2018 By Kim Kingston

Any book with a glowing review from Erin Kelly on the cover is going to compel me to buy it, and fast. Kelly wrote He Said/She Said (one of my Top Five Thrillers) and the glowing review is justified. Hard to believe this is Jenny Quintana’s first novel – the writing is so assured. Not only is it a compelling mystery, it’s also a portrait of the agonising hollow left behind when young people go missing. Gabriella Flores is fifteen when she disappears from her tiny English village. Thirty years later, her younger sister is still aching to find out what happened to her. Through her eyes we witness the slow disintegration of her parents and her own normal life as the guilt and suspicion and longing for Gabriella eviscerates them all. Sad, so sad. A well crafted read with a satisfying ending.
