What a ripper. A kid goes up moutain on his eighteenth birthday. He decides not to take his backpack as he’s planning to jump off the mountain and doesn’t want it to go to waste. He lives to regret that decision when, instead of jumping, he reluctantly guides a family of three women into the wilderness, where an incident takes them way off track and causes them to become horribly lost for five days. And one of the woman is wearing thongs, for God’s sake. There’s the threat of hypothermia, cougars, festering wounds, inter generational conflict and his own horrible memories to contend with, plus the definite possibility none of them will survive. It’s satisfyingly gripping. A really good one.
